An established and growing independent school is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Human Resources Officer to join its Human Resources Directorate. This is a genuine entry point into the education sector for an HR graduate or experienced administrator ready to step into a generalist role. You will be supported by an experienced Director of HR, receive strong mentoring, and gain hands-on exposure across the full employee lifecycle within a structured and professional environment. ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will play a key role in delivering compliant and efficient HR administration and advisory support across multiple campuses. You will be involved in: Maintaining accurate HR records and documentation Strong administrative skills with high attention to detail Supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes Drafting employment contracts, variation letters and HR correspondence Assisting with performance management, grievances and disciplinary processes Reviewing and improving HR policies, procedures and systems Acting as the first point of contact for HR enquiries Monitoring and triaging the shared HR inbox Supporting HR projects and initiatives as directed This is a hands-on, operational role suited to someone who enjoys detail, structure, attention to detail and working closely with leaders and staff. ABOUT YOU You might be an HR graduate looking for your first true generalist role, or an experienced administrator ready to specialise in HR. A genuine interest in developing your HR career Strong administrative skills and high attention to detail Confidence handling sensitive information with discretion Clear written and verbal communication skills Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act and employment frameworks (highly regarded) Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, Education or related field, or equivalent experience A current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain Full Australian working rights. Experience within a school setting will be well regarded but is not essential. Attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn are key.
